After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a riverbed
And the story it told of a river that
flowed Made me sad to think it was dead

What is Vagabond Guru?

An antidote to the mainstream sources
of information on the topics of Economics,
Politics, Culture and Sports…

A perspective that understands these matters, however vital they appear to all of our lives in the early part of the 21st Century are, essentially – trivia, in terms of mankind and his future. We give each topic and each column all due attention and care deeply about getting it ‘right’ when we publish…

BUT…

What matters most is that which outlives our lives, those developments that alter the future of the species and either advance or retard the development of humanity.

Beyond ourselves, our families, our lifetimes…exists a connection to our species and our Universe that is larger than we are.

Vagabond Guru is dedicated to exploring the aspects of our current lives, from the critical to the trivial with a dual vision – one that is focused upon this ‘moment’ and one, LARGER lens that looks towards the eternal and wonders, aloud…

What is to come?

Over time this site seeks to provide you with imagery; cartoons & comics, some hidden surprises and written content that both entertains and is thought provoking. Vagabond Guru’s links, at the bottom of every page, contain areas of exploration that hope to be ever evolving spaces. Start a topic in the forum, read about the world or a day of dog walking and buy a pair of booty shorts, maybe a hat, but most of all as we grow…

We hope you will join us on the journey.

Dallas, 1998 Matthew Storey
New York 1967 Mary Hannington

Often referred to affectionately as “Red Sox Steve” or “Salsa Steve”, grew up in the wilds of Rhode Island with all the creature comforts a young boy could ask for. Steve played hockey (Duh!) and frolicked in the family pool. You could also call him “Smart Steve”, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Chemistry from Boston University. It was a two-year trip to Kwakwani Guyana with the Peace Corp that opened Steve’s eyes to the possibilities life had to offer. Though he now works in the financial sector in NYC he is an avid explorer of life, science and single women.
Steve Casale
Known to many as “Mal”, a Fine Art graduate of Michigan State University with a minor in Photography and Psychology, Mary learned her film career from the bottom up. Working her way from smoke machine operator (sometimes known as a wafter) to camera operator to animator, executive producer, production designer and ultimately director. Her design work can be seen in two Cable Ace award-winning Showtime specials starring Tim Allen, numerous music videos, the Stan Douglas film Le Détroit and most recently a Rob Schneider titty movie.

report Youguru! Matt or “Guru” like so many of his kind has wandered the planet seeking knowledge in the open spaces and the crammed cities of the world. A New Yorker born to a family of Texans - he is of course an enigma! Schooled in Economics and on the ball fields of New York City. He’s a lover of Philosophy and Cheesy TV, Dogs AND Cats, Rock & Roll and Opera. He’s both gentle and fierce, and neither young nor old. A writer of tremendous talents; progressive, humorous and astounding in depth, his search for enlightenment and new ideas abound in all that he writes.

He may not see the world as you “wish” it to be, but he looks with an open mind, an open heart and an awareness of his own biases. He is a man whose time has come - In a world that threatens to go back to the dark ages - Matt is one of the bright lights that will spark a discussion we all need to have with each other.
